What is the "Crear Foundation"?
Introduction:
Fundación CREAR is a non-profit organization founded with the goal of providing a variety of initiatives in the fields of art and education. CREAR’s main project is the After School Program (ASP), an initiative run with the support of Intercultura Language and Cultural Center. The program, started in 2005, is a supplementary creative education opportunity for children and young people in Sámara. It consists of extra-curricular educational opportunities such as technology, music, art, language lessons, dance, theater, environmental education, horticulture, sports, and values and community classes. We currently have over 30 children participating from Sámara and the neighboring areas, including Matapalo, Cangrejal, Cantarrana, y Sámara Centro, as well as many more who have been placed on our waiting list in anticipation of our expansion, which is contingent upon obtaining additional funding to help us overcome the logistical challenges we face.
Our Mission:
Fundación CREAR seeks to provide a venue where children and young people can develop their artistic talents through creative art-education initiatives, while simultaneously learning life-long skills that will offer them a wider and more fulfilling range of employment opportunities in the future. CREAR is run by a multi-cultural staff and includes social, environmental and cross-cultural themes, as well as foreign languages, in its curriculum, hoping thereby to contribute to the formation of a spirit of multicultural curiosity, awareness and tolerance in the program’s youth.
